Microscopic colitis (MC) was once thought to be a rare condition
However, recent studies suggest MC occurs at a rate comparable to that of ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease – although its true frequency may still be underestimated.
In fact, since diagnosing MC relies on histology, it cannot be objectively diagnosed in primary care, so a large hidden burden of untreated and undiagnosed MC likely exists in the UK. Without a diagnosis and treatment, patients must endure an invisible struggle with their symptoms, with significant impacts to quality of life.
The aim of this site is to share resources to help improve education and increase awareness of MC within the healthcare community. Whether you are an expert looking for teaching slides, or someone who would like to know more about MC, simply click on the button relevant to your specialty or requirement to find resources.
